Welcome to Top World List. When you hear the name Bruce Lee we're pretty sure that one thing comes to mind Bruce Lee is known as a master of martial arts.

He was said to have superhuman strength and could master any martial arts technique as a sort of kung fu Jesus or so people called him who never lost a fight.

He was also known for his moves that broke box office records and forever changed the cultural landscape of Hollywood but despite this superhuman persona Lee built for himself. 

He was a human who had difficulties and struggles today we are looking at the incredible story of Bruce Lee and the life that was cut far too short but first a little background.

Who is Bruce Lee 

Bruce Lee was a Chinese-American who is best known as a martial artist actor and director despite his relatively short career. Bruce Lee was born on November 27, 1940, in the United States.

He is the greatest icon of martial arts cinema he's often credited with bringing the martial arts genre into the mainstream.

Lee appeared in over 20 films in his lifetime. The most well-known being Enter the Dragon which has grossed over 200 million dollars worldwide police career was relatively brief especially in Hollywood but his impact is still being felt today the influences of East Asian martial arts cinema found in numerous film genres.

Today can all be traced back to him but how can one man have such a profound impact let's go back to the start to find out.

His big break

Lee had all but given up on his idea of a career in acting and Hollywood, in particular, choosing instead to focus on his martial arts but one competition changed everything his friend invited him to compete in the 1964 Long Beach International Karate Championships where he created a lot of buzz by demonstrating his two-finger push-ups and one-inch punch it was here he was discovered by television producer William Dozier.

He invited him to audition for a television show this led to Lee being cast as the sidekick Kato in the TV series titled The Green Hornet. 

The show only lasted for one season in 1966 and Lee was again out of work he began developing a new fighting style that would be practical for street fighters he called it Jeet Kune Do and he opened another gym fan gongfu Institute to teach this method.

He also had a few acting jobs here and there but executives were hesitant to cast him in big roles because of his ethnicity and accent one producer suggested he go back to Hong Kong to make a feature film to bolster his appeal to American producers however when he returned to Hong Kong he was surprised to discover he had already become a celebrity due to the popularity of The Green Hornet over there. 

He easily secured a starring role in two feature films the big boss and Fist of Fury both of which broke box office records in Hong Kong. Bruce Lee's movies are able to see their fight scenes.

The end of a legend

Lee's career was at an all-time high his name had already become attached to several Hollywood projects and he had more plans for his own production company as well but he was experiencing some health problems dating back to May 10th, 1973 when he collapsed while working in a dialogue replacement session for entering the Dragon.

Lee had dinner with an actor named George Lazenby they spent a few hours together discussing an upcoming film called Game of Death then they went to the home of an actress named Betty ting pay after Lee complained of a headache ting offered him a painkiller called aqua jisuk.

Lee then went to take a nap but never woke up he was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong but was declared dead on arrival he was only 32 years old the autopsy determined.

He had experienced another cerebral edema after having a negative reaction to the painkiller he was taken.

However, due to the sudden nature of his death and his young age, there was wide speculation about the cause of his death with some rumors involving a murder at the hands of organized criminals or a curse on him and his family. Lee was buried in Seattle Washington he died just six days before Enter the Dragon was released to the public.
